Woodland Edge

Situated near Epping Forest, with large trees bordering the garden, and some lovely established fruit trees in it, it felt appropriate to approach this garden as a woodland edge space. This garden of circles was about ‘bringing the garden in’. A large garden, there was previously too much open space, as if you didn’t know where to put yourself; I created a more human-scale garden.

Keeping hard landscaping materials to a minimum, the brief met the clients’ number one wish for a seating area toward the rear of the garden.

In addition, the brick edging defines the spatial design, guiding the eye, and can double up as a path in the winter months if need be.

“It looks like it’s always been there.” was the landscaper’s comment, which I’m taking to mean that the garden looks as though it sits really well and suits the space.

“It has been a pleasure to work with you, and we are delighted with the outcome.

We are very impressed with your knowledge and passion, your hard work and also your understanding of our two very different sets of ideas and how you have so successfully married them together!”
